హైదరాబాద్ నగరానికి ఎప్పటికీ త్రాగునీటి సమస్య రాకుండా ఉండేందుకు వెంటనే డెడికేటెడ్ మంచినీటి రిజర్వాయర్ నిర్మించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ కె. చంద్రశేఖర్ రావు అధికారులను ఆదేశించారు. మల్లన్నసాగర్, కొండ పోచమ్మ సాగర్ రిజర్వాయర్ల నుంచి గోదావరి నీటిని తరలించి, ప్రతిపాదిత మంచినీటి రిజర్వాయర్ ను ఎప్పటికప్పుడు నింపుతూ పోవాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి సూచించారు. నీటి పారుదల శాఖ అధికారులు, ఆర్.డబ్ల్యు.ఎస్. అధికారులు సంయుక్తంగా సమావేశమై మంచినీటి రిజర్వాయర్, పైపులైన్ల కు సంబంధించి అంచనాలు తయారు చేయాలని ఆదేశించారు. ఓఆర్ఆర్ లోపల ఉన్న ప్రతీ ఇంటికీ మంచినీటి కనెక్షన్ ఇవ్వాలని చెప్పారు.

హైదరాబాద్ నగరానికి మంచినీటి రిజర్వాయర్ నిర్మించే విషయంపై ముఖ్యమంత్రి కేసీఆర్ సోమవారం ప్రగతి భవన్ లో సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు. శ్రీ మంత్రి మల్లారెడ్డి, ఎమ్మెల్యే శ్రీమతి సబితా ఇంద్రారెడ్డి, ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన సలహాదారు శ్రీ రాజీవ్ శర్మ, ముఖ్య కార్యదర్శి శ్రీ నర్సింగ్ రావు, మున్సిపల్ శాఖ ముఖ్య కార్యదర్శి శ్రీ అరవింద్ కుమార్, జిహెచ్ఎంసి కమీషనర్ శ్రీ దానకిశోర్, దేవాదాయశాఖ కమిషనర్ శ్రీ అనిల్ కుమార్, మేడ్చల్ కలెక్టర్ శ్రీ ఎంవి రెడ్డి తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

‘‘ప్రస్తుతం గోదావరి, కృష్ణా నీళ్ళను చాలా దూరం నుంచి హైదరాబాద్ తరలిస్తున్నాము. అయినా అవి సంవత్సరం పొడవునా నగర ప్రజల మంచినీటి అవసరాలు తీర్చలేకపోతున్నాయి. భవిష్యత్తులో ఇలా జరగడానికి వీల్లేదు. కాళేశ్వరం ప్రాజెక్టు ద్వారా మల్లన్నసాగర్, కొండ పోచమ్మ సాగర్ రిజర్వాయర్లకు నీటి సరఫరా జరుగుతుంది. ప్రాజెక్టుల నీటిలో పది శాతం మంచినీళ్లకు వాడుకునేలా ప్రభుత్వం ఉత్తర్వులు కూడా ఇచ్చింది. కాబట్టి ఈ రెండు రిజర్వాయర్ల నుంచి హైదరాబాద్ కు మంచినీళ్లు అందించాలి. దీనికోసం కేశవపురం దగ్గర రిజర్వాయర్, వాటర్ ట్రీట్మెంట్ ప్లాంటు నిర్మించాలి. అక్కడి నుంచి నగరానికి మంచినీటి సరఫరా జరగాలి. దీనికోసం వెంటనే అంచనాలు రూపొందించాలి. గోదావరి, కృష్ణా నీటిని ప్రస్తుత పద్ధతిలో తరలిస్తూనే ప్రత్యామ్నాయంగా రిజర్వాయర్ కూడా నిర్మించాలి’’ అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి స్పష్టం చేశారు.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to construct a dedicated drinking water reservoir for Greater Hyderabad to mitigate the drinking water problem and to put an end to the drinking water crisis forever in the twin cities. The CM suggested that Godavari water from Mallanna Sagar and Konda Pochamma Reservoirs should be supplied to fill up the proposed Reservoir whenever it is required and from time to time. He also instructed the Irrigation, RWS officers to immediately prepare estimates on the proposed Reservoir, pipes, etc., after having a joint meeting. The CM also instructed that every household within the ORR should be given drinking water connection.

The CM held a review meeting on Monday at Pragathi Bhavan on having a dedicated Reservoir to supply drinking water to the Hyderabad City. Minister Sri Malla Reddy, MLA Mrs Sabitha Indra Reddy, Government Chief Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary Sri Narsing Rao, Principal Secretary (Municipal) Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Sri Dana Kishore, Commissioner (Endowments) Sri Anil Kumar, Medchel Collector Sri MV Reddy and others participated.

“As on date, we are diverting water from Krishna and Godavari Rivers from a far away distance to Hyderabad. Despite this, these are not fulfilling the drinking water needs of people in Hyderabad. This should not happen in the future. Mallanna Sagar and Konda Pochampally reservoirs are getting water from the Kaleswaram project. The government has issued orders allocating 10 percent of the water for the drinking water purposes. Hence, from these two reservoirs drinking water should be supplied to Hyderabad. Construct a reservoir and water treatment plant at Keshavapur. From here drinking water should be supplied to the city. For this prepare the estimates forthwith. While diverting water from Krishna and Godavari rivers, construct the reservoir simultaneously,” the CM instructed.
